Itinerary

KATHMANDU, Arrival

 

Activities

On your arrival at the airport in Kathmandu, you will be received with a placard with your name in the arrival hall. The luggage will be loaded into the car, and you will be transferred to the hotel in Kathmandu. After check-in, you can take the time to freshen up before you move to Avata for a sound healing session to recover from jet lag, followed by a healthy dinner at Nourish by Avata. 

After that, you will be transferred back to your hotel.

NAGARKOT

 

Activities

Today, your journey begins with a visit to the renowned Bhaktapur area, where you'll start with a pottery experience in Thimi, known as the pottery capital. Led by a local artisan, you'll learn the art of making ceramics and savor a traditional Newari dish prepared by your family. After a delightful lunch, you'll head to Nagarkot, a popular retreat from Kathmandu. Upon arrival, you'll receive a warm welcome at the Nagarkot community homestay, complete with garlands. You'll be acquainted with the community and your host family, with whom you'll spend the next two days. After a brief rest, you'll explore the village with your hosts, engaging in activities such as crafting tamari (leaf plates) and making batti (wick) alongside the community's women, fostering bonds and concluding the day with enriching experiences.

NAGARKOT

 

Activities

Begin your day with rejuvenating Hatha yoga led by a local instructor at Shanti Danda, followed by a delicious breakfast with stunning views. Then, ascend to Shanti Danda to admire the breathtaking panoramic vista of the valley and visit the revered Jalpa Devi Temple in Nagarkot. NAMOBUDDHA

 

Activities

Today, your hike begins from the homestay to Nala, starting at the newly constructed suspension bridge. You'll trek uphill to Shanti Park, passing by the nearby Tamang village, before descending through the jungle to reach Nala. A vehicle will then pick you up and transfer you to Namobuddha. Perched atop a hill, Namobuddha is a revered Buddhist site known for meditation and practice, with the Thrangu Tashi Yangtse Monastery as its main highlight. Legend has it that the monastery was built over the remains of Buddha Mahasattva, who sacrificed himself to a hungry tigress and her cubs.

PANAUTI

 

Activities

Today, embark on a journey to Panauti, a captivating blend of old towns adorned with ancient Newari architecture and temples, and modern houses nestled amidst lush farm fields. Choose to hike from Namobuddha, a scenic route that takes around 3-4 hours one way, accompanied by a knowledgeable local guide. Alternatively, opt for a thrilling bike ride from Namobuddha, with an experienced guide leading you through the terrain. Upon arrival, your host will greet you with traditional garlands and refreshing welcome drinks, before guiding you to their homes for a truly immersive stay. 

PANAUTI

 

Activities

After breakfast, embark on a countryside bicycle tour through three indigenous towns: Panauti, Bhandari Gaun, and Khopasi. Explore small temples, pedal through potato fields, and cross a suspension bridge, enjoying a cup of Nepali masala tea before returning to the old town of Panauti.

Later in the day, immerse yourself in the local culture by joining the hosts in preparing a traditional Newari feast. This interactive experience allows you to learn about and participate in the cooking of various local dishes, which are then served serially during gatherings, offering a unique insight into the community's rich culinary heritage. In the evening, don traditional attire and get ready for a cultural program organized by the younger generation, where you can add your own flair. After the program, indulge in the traditional Newar culture feast known as Suku Bhwe.

KIRTIPUR- KATHMANDU

 

Activities

After bidding a warm farewell to your hosts in Panauti, you'll journey to Kirtipur, one of Nepal's oldest Newari towns. Immerse yourself in the local Newari culture as you savor traditional Newari cuisine, admire the mountains and Kathmandu Valley views, and explore the city's temples and stupas with your hosts.

Next, you'll learn to write the ancient Newari Script, Ranjana Lipi, guided by an experienced instructor. Sample the local alcoholic drink, 'Aila,' as you practice writing the letters and enjoy a traditional Newari Set meal called Samay Baji, a staple during Newari festivities. Using traditional bamboo pens and ink, you'll write a word of your choice in the Ranjana script, which will be framed as a special memento.

Following this experience, you'll be transferred to your hotel in Kathmandu.
