The village of Bhada is located in a quiet, rural area on the Terai. It’s between both the Bardiya National Park and the Shuklaphanta National Park, so is an ideal stop when traveling between these two places. But, it’s also a worthy destination in its own right, and an easy place to spend a relaxed day or two.

Most of the people who live here are farmers, so you’ll get a chance to see them work (even helping out if you wish!) and experience village life. You can tour the local area, stopping at the impressive Behada Baba Temple in nearby Urma and Koirahi Lake, where fishermen haul in carp. At Bhada you can also explore the village on foot, checking out the local architecture and interesting items that people use in their daily work.

Featuring four distinct dances, each with its own rich history and significance, this cultural showcase vividly portrays the unique traditions of the Tharu people in Bhada. Rooted in the nomadic lifestyle of hunters and gatherers, some dances also reflect the Tharu community's deep connection to their nomadic heritage.

There are about four sets of dances performed during the cultural program which are

• Sakhiya dance: Dance performed with friends to celebrate the joy of post harvesting season.
• Jhumra Dance: Dance performed during any auspicious festivals or occasions.
• Magauta Dance: Dance performed during the auspicious festival of Maghi (tharu culture new Year)
• Lathi Dance: Dance performed with sticks to portray basic defensive and offensive skills with stick as a measure of security.

The cultural program is about 1-2 hours long with different sets of dances performed and travellers can also choose to dress like one of the locals and participate in the dances.
